North Cowichan

Known as a community of communities, North Cowichan is the largest municipality in the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Sheltered by local mountains and the Olympic Peninsula the climate is mild mimicking the Mediterranean with winters full of rain and little snow, and warm dry summers.

The climate, combined with a landscape full of forests, lakes, rivers, and beaches, sees residents enjoying a relaxed but active lifestyle with the perks of rural living and the amenities of city life. The region also includes the Maple Bay Airport, providing air travel options to Vancouver and several Gulf Islands. While the population in the area has risen in recent years, the average family income falls slightly below the provincial average, pointing to a desire to live simply and enjoy the natural beauty to be found here.
